FAQ’s
Is this a race?
NO THIS IS NOT A RACE.
It is however a timed event and all finishers will receive a personal completion time and a medal.
This year will also feature a Police outrider at the head of the event and the majority of junctions will be marshalled.
Is there a cut-off time?
Yes.
The event finishes at 13:45 as we need to start clearing the finish line to open to traffic by 14:30.
There is also a mid-point cut-off time of 09:50 at Les Platons. Anyone on the 110km route who arrives after this time will be diverted onto the shorter 70km route.
Can I use an e-bike / mountain bike?
Yes absolutely, the 70km route is designed for e-bikes and MTB riders.
What kind of bike is suitable?
Both courses are aimed at riders of road/race bikes but that doesn’t mean you can’t ride any other kind of bike if you want to.
We do suggest that people who ride regularly and want a challenge have a go at the 110km route.
Are there many hills?
Due to the shape of our lovely island there are some hills on both routes.
The 70km route will climb 3 hills and a couple of rises, whereas the 110km takes in a couple of bays and valleys too.
I have only been riding for a couple of months, will this be too much for me?
Not at all.
The 70km route will be a good ride to give you the confidence to tackle a longer distance next year.
Is there any support if I have a mechanical issue?
There will be an emergency number for serious mechanical issues but we advise you to get your bike checked by a bike shop before you ride.
Please take a puncture repair kit and spares with you on the day as you are required to be self-sufficient.
Can I enter on the day?
No.
All entries are online and MUST be completed by 20:00 on April 22nd.
Are the roads closed to traffic?
No.
While most of the junctions will be marshalled, all riders are expected to follow the rules of the road.
There will be a Police outrider at the head of the event.
The last few kilometres of the event will however be on semi0closed roads (the same direction of travelling traffic)! The finish will be fully barriered complete with a 10m inflatable arch at the finish line!
Can my family come to watch?
Yes of course. The more the merrier at the finish line and along the route.
There will be an event village at People’s Park (the finish line) where there will refreshments available.
